Default Most Versatile armor type?

About to drop a load of gold to get some 15K armor for the ele... wondering what type is considered to be the most "versatile" armor (for example Gladiators and Dreadnaughts aka platemail is considered the two most versatile for Warriors).

When in doubt I usually go +energy, but of course Ele's have no +energy armor (not like they really need it).

my set of 1.5K is Battlemages so dont really need that one, and the +armor vs element's one may give the most bang for the buck but dont really seem "versatile" in a lot of respects since its +vs elements then +vs a specific element.

So basically I was thinking of either Tempest (+10 armor while enchanted) or Archmages (+35HP total)... While +while enchanted may not seem versatile I figured it might be worthwhile since I'm rarely without any sort of attunement on me.

any opinions?

If you're only going to get one set, health is the only way to go IMO.

Peace,

Health. +anything while enchanted is way too conditional, and you can add +10 armor to a staff.

I'd also say go Archmage. Tempest is nice while you are enchanted but the health bonus does add up while in parties.

Which 15K set are you looking at Canthan/Luxon/Kurzick?

I use Tempest, because I always have attunement and restoration on. I think ele is the only class where the 'while enchanted' condition can be met so easily.

I'm getting 15K canthan

but this is what I dont really get about Archmage (and + HP mods in general): dont +HP mods only really helps in terms of those "last hits" on you? Armor on the other hand factors on every bit of damage you take, so would be more helpful in teams where you would get healed as well right?

of course +HP is better than armor when it comes to holy damage, lifesteal and degen, but it seems to me like in most cases +armor is better

What he said. Battlemage armour as a second set is always a nice option.

+10 while enchanted easily, then if you're planning on doing something like nr/tranq or something similar where you have no enchantments, i go +10 vs physical chest, and plus health on everything else.
